Swartz/Stevens Fundraiser

Over the New Year's Eve holiday a couple from the Battle Ground area were in an accident and the wife was killed and the husband was badly injured. The couple have three children. With the funeral costs and medical costs a local salon decided to try and help out by having a fundraiser. I have donated a gift basket with a couple of scrapbooking layouts (all you add is the journaling and photos), three d-size stampsets, 10 birthday cards with a box to store them in, and a bunch of idea books that can be bought at the fundraiser on Saturday. (If you are local it will be at the Skilz Salon in the Battle Ground Village.) I am also donating 20% of the proceeds from an online Close to My Heart party. To order and contribute just go to my website (sharesa.ctmh.com) and click join next to the Swartz/Stevens Fundraiser. It is as easy as that! Also don't forget that with every $50 order you can get the stamp of the month for $5. If I have the privilege of giving the family $100 or more I will send a FREE gift to everyone who placed an order of $25 or more. The party will close on April 6th at 11:59 PM so please hurry and get your orders in and help this father and his children!

10+10+10 Challenge

Every now and again I need a little challenge to get me back into the scrapbooking mood. This challenge from Stacy Julian over at Big Picture Classes got my scrapbooking brain going. I sat down and in an hour completed the challenge with a layout that I am in love with, I hope you like it too!

All products used are Close to My Heart.

The ten products are:

1.Cardstock: grey wool (also retired), blush and white daisy

2. Background and texture paper (scraps from Typeset and Lucy both retired)

3. Silver shimmer trim (Z1799)

4. Dimensional Elements: Letters I (Z1662) U (Z1674) and a heart (Z1735)

5. Stamp pads: Grey wool (retired) and Black

6. Stamps: 10 things (C1474) and You and me

7. Alcohol Markers: Smoothie (Z2409) and Crystal Blue (Z2401)

8. Pink Flowers

9. Make it from your Heart (for the layout idea) (9035)

10. Sparkles (Z1104

The ten techniques:

1. Stamping

2. Sanding

3. Clustering

4. Intentional Imperfection (which is really hard for me to not straighten things, or re-cut paper to make them perfect)

5. Strip journaling

6. Edge distressing with ink

7. Layering

8. Coloring (yup I colored!)

9. Using 3-D foam tape

10. Masking (a stamping technique to use only part of a stamp)

The ten words:

1. Patient

2. Loving

3. Kind

4. Knowledgeable

5. Teachable

6. Humble

7. Hardworking

8. Thankful

9. Faithful

10. Wonderful

If you check out big pictures and are interested in any of the classes or books just click here (my reference link) to get a discount on your second purchase. I hope this challenge helps someone else to get their scrapbooking mojo back!

Studio J and Clearance items

Hello everyone, it has been a long time, I know, but I should be back a little more often now that our new little one has been born. I wanted to share a few things with you, first there are a ton of new items in the while supplies last section, so click here and check it out! Second thing I wanted to mention is that Studio J layouts are $5 (regularly $6.95) until March 15th. Studio J is the online digital scrapbooking using Close to my Heart product lines. It is super easy to use. To make it even easier they have added Express Layouts, you just have to add pictures and journaling and you are set. You can change a few things to make them your own as well. Plus you can head on over to youTube and watch some Love your Layout videos to see some tips and tricks. Here are a few of the layouts I created this month. You can get started on your own projects here. If you have any questions just let me know! Happy scrapbooking!

Family

I know that a lot of families have had this same experience, the one where your newborn is in the NICU. In some ways I enjoyed my time there because it allowed me to have some one on one time with him (and because the nurses let me sleep more than my 1 year old at home would have.) But I also hated the time we spent there because I missed us being together all the time and being a family. I missed those fun moments when they are a day or two and you get to snuggle with them and your other children just want to hold them. Oh the joys and hardship of the NICU. Well needless to say those moments are over for little Will and he will soon turn two (where did the years go?) He has grown so much and as a family we have grown. Hopefully we never have to experience the NICU again! This layout is from the Pemberley workshop on the go available here

My Girls

Okay so I thought after the sap fest yesterday we might as well keep it going! I love my girls and I love spending time with them (though I also enjoy my me time!) These girls make me laugh and they make me cry at least once a day. So when I found these pictures of them playing nicely at the Newport Aquarium (also known as Oregon's Aquarium) I just sighed. If only they played nicely together everyday (I know all the moms out there are saying YES, IF ONLY!). So if your littles are playing nicely today grab the camera and snap that picture and journal about it. That way when they are screaming at each other tomorrow you can remember that yesterday was better and tomorrow will probably be another good day. By the way this layout and the one from yesterday are from the Florentine Workshop on the go available here.
